 Today in class Mr.Rease gave the class a lesson on formal and informal language. I learned that formal language is used in serious situations. For example one setting someone would use formal language is a application. I also learned about informal language and that it is used in casual situations. One casual situation would be talking with family or in a party. Mr. Rease also did a small quiz with everyone where we had to answer when he called on us. The quiz was super easy and I had no trouble. We finally ended the class with taking a picture of a lesson we are going to do later in out notes. 

 Today I entered Mr. Rease classes expecting It not to be so bad but in my horror we had to do an assessment on fences. The class and I chose to watch 30 min of the end of fences before the assessment. The movie really brought out the characters and their loss of Troy. After the movie ended we started the assessment, I did not have my chromebook so I had to suffer writing by hand. Other than some questions of parts I missed of the book I had a fairly easy time answering the questions. I think I got at least a 80 percent, hopefully maybe,  sadly, perchance. 

 Mr. Rease started off with giving us the books. Mr. Rease handed out characters and I was picked as Lyons. We started off where Troy dies seven year later and his funeral is going on. Lyons apparently went to jail after the 7 years of Troy kicking out Cory and Cory joined the marines. The characters all gathered for the funeral even Gabriel, Cory had put his conflict out and joined too. The story ended there and Mr. Rease asked us how Troy spent his time during the time skip. I answered that he spent most of his time with Raynell since he was not really on talking terms with Rose. 

 Today in class Mr.Rease gave a lesson on the writing process. We learned about the 5 steps to the writing process. We started ln prewriting where we learned about clustering . Clustering is basically thinking of subtopics and details for them and writing them down. Mr.Rease gave us a clustering prompt of getting a job. The class collectively brainstormed subtropics and details like the interview, the resume, etc. I got a greater understanding that really an essay wasn't too hard if you take the right steps. 

We began reading the novel fences in Mr.Rease's class. Before that we had watched a clip of the trailer and viewed the character traits of the characters in the clip. Before we began reading we had to create a character trait box for Troy , Bono , Rose and Lyons and put character traits we saw in the clip. Mr.Rease gave out characters to act out to everyone and I was picked to be the narrator. I tried my best narrating and gave out an exemplary narration in my opinion. After we finished reading to like page 10 we filled out more of the character traits. After reading we found out troy is cheating with Alberta on Rose and Bono is his follower. 

 Today in class we did a common lit assessment that was fairly easy to me. The assessment was about a girl who became a writer because of her love of books. The assessment was only multiple choice so i was very happy about that. I got 83% and I know why. I'm sure i rushed the last question and got it wrong. I just wanted to get it over with. After the assessment we didn't have to read fences and had the rest of class to do whatever we had to do. Finally I worked on the blog post that I'm missing. 

In class we only had 6 or 5 people and it was kinda strange , I realized it was a smaller class than i thought. Mr.Rease gave us a new novel that we are going to read called "Fences". We talked about the purpose of a fence and how a fence may be harmful. What we came up with was a fence's purpose was privacy , safety , to keep things out and in , and protection. We also talked about the purpose of a literal fence and a fences purpose in a literal sense is to guard your emotions , and protect your emotion, feeling and secrets.
